Their journey began with the restoration of Hotel Regina in Moltrasio, an abandoned hotel that had been closed since World War II. Through an extensive and meticulous renovation, the Butti family transformed it into the Grand Hotel Imperiale, a refined 4-star property with 90 rooms, marking the first milestone in their vision for distinguished hospitality.

Over the years, Grand Hotel Imperiale has evolved, expanding its offerings with the addition of a state-of-the-art wellness center. This transformation led to the birth of the Grand Hotel Imperiale Resort & Spa in 2012, a 4-star superior retreat designed to offer guests an immersive experience of luxury and relaxation on Lake Como.

In 2014, GBH Collection expanded further with the acquisition of Hotel Plinius, a charming 3-star hotel with 32 rooms, ideally located in the heart of Como’s historic center. Shortly after, in 2019, restoration work began on a historic palazzo adjacent to Como Cathedral—the Palazzo dei Canonici. This ambitious project culminated in the opening of Duomo Boutique Hotel in 2021, a sophisticated 4-star property featuring 19 elegant rooms and a refined restaurant, bringing contemporary luxury into a setting of timeless beauty.

That same year, GBH Collection introduced a new dimension of hospitality in Sardinia with the inauguration of Cala Sinzias Resort. Designed as a "diffused hotel," this 4-star superior retreat is immersed in lush Mediterranean landscapes, just steps from the pristine Cala Sinzias beach. The resort embodies a unique blend of comfort, elegance, and environmental respect, seamlessly integrating with its natural surroundings to create an exclusive yet sustainable experience.

The group's commitment to heritage restoration and modern luxury continues. In 2023, GBH Collection began the complete renovation of Hotel Plinius, set to reopen at the end of 2024 as Plinius Lifestyle Hotel—a 4-star superior property redefining contemporary hospitality with its modern and welcoming design.

The year 2026 marked another important milestone in the group’s growth with the opening of Palazzo San Gottardo, a prestigious five-star hotel overlooking Piazza Cavour in the heart of Como. Carefully restored to its former splendour, the historic building now offers a complete hospitality experience, featuring Radiante fine dining restaurant, Terrazza Lumi panoramic cocktail bar, Caffè Lariano and Fontea SPA, dedicated to wellness and relaxation.

In the same year, GBH Collection expanded into Puglia with the opening of Palazzo Sant’Anna, an elegant historic residence located in the centre of Lecce. This project represents a new chapter in the group’s history, bringing its philosophy of hospitality to one of Southern Italy’s most fascinating destinations, where art, culture and tradition come together.

Today, GBH Collection is present across Lake Como, Sardinia and Puglia with a collection of hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas and hospitality experiences. Complementing the group’s portfolio is Tasell, the historic Lake Como navigation brand founded in 1892, offering guests the opportunity to experience the lake from a unique and exclusive perspective.
